About PSE

The Process Systems Engineering group actively engages in the modelling, optimization, knowledge acquisition and advanced control of complex systems. Typical examples include polymerization, crystallization, petrochemical processes, pulp and paper, food processing, and bioprocesses.

Our primary goals include fundamental research, high-quality training (both within and external to the university system), industrial applications of our research and technology transfer into a broad range of industrial sectors. Our scope of expertise includes system identification, data reconciliation, mechanistic modelling, advanced process control, fault detection and diagnosis, and artificial intelligence.

Current Research Topics:

  • Advanced multi-scale modelling architectures for complex processes
  • Advanced multiresolution image analysis and characterization techniques
  • AI-Machine Learning applications
  • Advanced process control
  • Enterprise-wide optimization
